19th Century Magic Lantern Slide Projector made by the German company Wiener Flachbrenner.
The magic lantern or Laterna Magica is an early type of image projector employing pictures on sheets of glass. It was developed in the 17th century and commonly used for educational and entertainment purposes.The sources of light back then were candles and oil lamps. This one in particular uses the oil lamp concept.
This is a hard piece to find as they rarely surface. It sits on a wood base and has a brass oil tank.
